Young Sheldon

Young Sheldon

Being a big fan of The Big Bang Theory, I was eager to watch Young Sheldon and verify all the facts I had learned about Sheldon’s younger years.

Boo! Hiss! Fraught with inaccuracies.

So far, I am not pleased. Being a drug addict myself, I am familiar with alcoholism and I am aware that the disease of alcoholism cannot easily be detected by casual observance. However, I hardly think Sheldon’s dad (Lance Barber) is acting much like the alcoholic described by older Sheldon.

And then there is Meemaw (Annie Potts), with whom I have a hard time assimilating with the Meemaw shown in The Big Bang Theory (June Squibb). The Texas attitude is there, but not the resemblance.

However, to the casting director’s credit, they were spot on with the casting of Zoe Perry as young Sheldon’s mother, who resembles older Sheldon’s mother (Laura Metcalf) down to the mannerisms. Kudos!

The show itself is okay, considering I Sheldon used to be my favorite character on The Big Bang Theory; that is until I noticed how high-maintenance he is and discredit his intelligence for his lack of social skills. Seriously, people don’t have the luxury of exile/isolation, and he went to public school for chris’s sake.

I continue to watch only because of scheduling and lack of anything else on television that I might find “worth” viewing; also, I like to laugh.
